June 21: Layover in Milford

We were due for a day off. I was cranky, the cats were pissed and Debbie needed some time to do all the chores.

We did not have an alarm but the cats started wrestling around 4:30. Debbie got up around 5 and I waited until I smelled coffee.

The wind had the flags out horizontally so we made the right call. We had coffee and got ready for breakfast when we discovered the microwave no longer worked. In corporate terms, “The microwave shit the bed.” Not pretty any way you look at it. It is an important part of our ability to cook and eat.

So Deb got the bed clothes washing and I googled where we could buy a unit that would fit. Meanwhile, I get a text from Michael saying he got a weird iMessage from me. Robin had asked me yesterday if my Facebook was hacked. And it wasn’t. Some asshole started a Facebook page with my name and started texting people on my friends list. So I told people what was happening and that maybe the other person will actually post more often so they could choose who to follow.

We were supposed to clean the boat but we had to find a microwave so we mounted our scooters and did a tour of Milford. We did not wreck so that is awesome. There must not be a lot of bike riders here because the sidewalks were so overgrown we had to crouch to get through. We found a microwave at Lowe’s and then went to get groceries. Walmart did not have any PRODUCE! So Debbie found another place called G Mart. We got there and it was all ASIAN. They didn’t speak English. But they had some of the stuff we needed so we loaded the backpack for the first time since we left.

We got back to the boat and I ordered the microwave online but somehow pick up was in Delaware! So I spent another hour trying to move pick up to Milford and cancel it in Delaware. THEN we had to get a ride back to Lowe’s to get the microwave which required Debbie to download Uber like an adult! The box was beaten up so we opened it at the store and plugged it in there . By the time we got home, we plugged in the new unit in time to warm leftovers for dinner.

We went to a pub for a couple beers and now we are being serenaded by a fife and drum corps.

Tomorrow we are looking forward to lunch with our friends Bob and Connie who live an hour away in New York.

We need to pump out the heads. I can tell you that a manually pumped head makes you rethink your fiber intake.

Our goal is to head out on Friday. It appears the gale warnings will be gone but it may be raining.

There’s a mama swan and her baby who keep the cats entertained.

More fun where that came from. Talk to you tomorrow!
