June 23: Back in the Saddle
It is hard to believe this is the same body of water that tried to kill us Tuesday. Maybe it is just not awake yet since we left the dock at freaking 4:45!
The trip ALMOST came to an abrupt halt Thursday evening when we found a place with 50 percent off all drinks and appetizers. But the marina is booked for tonight so we had to move on. We will be back.
The Long Island Sound was smooth for most of the 97 miles to Newport, Rhode Island. We decided to roll past Mystic since we had been there and the weather was amazing. We arrived in Newport, Rhode Island, around 3 and were greeted at the dock by our NSB neighbors Laura and Brad who are in town for a wedding!
They showed us around their old stomping grounds and then Deb and I headed off in search of local brews. They recommended a place called Pour Decisions… sounded right up our alley.
Really a neat place to explore. We may have to hit Newport on the way back too. Tomorrow we are hoping to get to Onset Bay so we can time the current in the Cape Cod Canal.
We are staying at Newport Yachting Center for 8.50 a foot so it holds the current record for most expensive. We will be heading out to moorings soon!😘😘

Loved hanging with you yesterday! Safe travels!
