July 28: Atlantic City
The damn alarm went off at 4:30. I am starting to hate vacation.
We pulled away from our slip at 5 am. This is the best time to travel in NYC.
And a cruise ship! It took an hour basically to get out of the harbor and into the Atlantic. The swells were close together but not huge. So every now and then they slapped the bottom of the boat so Peanut went to the litter box. Everything that was not already tied down, went down or into the sink. Furball the tender was getting her ass kicked.
A half hour later, Debbie claimed to see whale spews. I knew she was stressed. Then I drove and one of the damn humpbacks surfaced about 40 feet away! By some miracle, Debbie got us a slip at the Golden Nugget so we plowed ahead.
The swells got bigger but father apart. The slapping stopped but we had to close the windows because the spray was blowing back. The ONE TIME Debbie wanted a break so I drove is when we passed Little Egg Inlet and WAVES were breaking a mile offshore! It was four feet deep! The wind picked up.
We pulled into Atlantic City having covered 106 miles. We arrived around 3 pm, rinsed the boat, and made it to Charthouse in time for a happy hour dinner!

Thanks for the really neat photos! Only 800 miles away ~ enjoy every minute!
ReplyDeleteWow girls, I just caught up on your posts and wow. We had a great time on Cattitude last week, I am in awe of you both! This trip is quite remarkable truly. We got home and are exhausted from our 3 weeks up north, but after reading about all your 4 am wake up calls and fighting the weather, I will stop complaining about me being tired. The northeast is beautiful, exciting, and expensive lol. Glad you found good places for some beers. Sending good vibes that the weather cooperates and you start hightailing your selves back to NSB. Safe travels you two amazing women.
