July 31: Chesapeake City
The day got off to a rocky start when we overslept. Apparently the alarm was set for 5:15 PM, not AM! Yayyy! But we had to catch the current so it was a scramble. Additionally, dark clouds loomed on the horizon.
But we pushed off before 6:30 and headed for the mouth of the Delaware River. The wind was blowing about 10 knots from the west which felt like we were riding a deranged rocking horse for the first hour or two. Fortunately , the rain dissipated and that wasn’t an issue. When we finally turned more to the north and we were closer to the western shore, the waves settled a bit and the current pushed us toward the C& D Canal.
Little bastard was head straight for us!There was a lot of commercial boat traffic including freighters and barges. Debbie was elated to see a sailboat flying a spinnaker until she realized it was actually a green channel marker. Then she was trying to avoid an oncoming ship and it turned out to be a lighthouse. So she closed her eyes during my shift and it seems to have reset her vision. Maybe she sustained a concussion after all!
We pulled into Chesapeake City at 1:30 pm. Debbie washed the boat and I dried the windows and brightwork. We showered and entertained the cats in the flybridge until they got too hot. Then we went to the bar for a Hazy and we met some folks and talked for a while. Heading out at 6:30 AM if the alarm is correct! Heading to Annapolis again. We love that place!

Ahhhh Annapolis! Oysters @ McGarveys are a must!! 😁
