August 9: Wrightsville Beach

We got up early but we are at a point where it is still dark at 6 am . This is actually exciting for me so we can sleep a little later.  The amazing thing was that the winds were completely calm.

For the most part, it was excruciatingly boring. We powered against the current virtually the whole way.

We did pass a pirate ship with three skeletons in the dinghy so that was fun. The the rest of the boats seemed to take delight in seeing how close they could come to us without actual impact.

We arrived in Wrightsville Beach at 3:30 after 9.5 hours. The dockmaster was plowed so it took a while to get situated because he lost his drink!

Then we walked to the nearest brewery and things got interesting. There was one other couple at the bar and they were from Jacksonville.  The wife was meeting former schoolmates there. So we chatted up the manager and bartenders and then the friends bought all of our beers! We walked back, showered, ate and tomorrow we head to Myrtle Beach!
